Tommy and I spent a few days in Nashville before Thanksgiving. It was our first time there so I thought I’d share a quick travel guide of the things that we did! November was actually a great time to go. It wasn’t hot and it wasn’t too cold. It did lightly rain a couple days but otherwise it was sunny and in the 50’s and 60’s. Some places were beautifully decorated for the holidays already too!

Jack Daniel Distillery
Tommy is a fan of whiskey so we decided to drive down to Lynchburg, TN and take a tour of the distillery. We went on The Angel’s Share tour and it was definitely worth it, even for me and I don’t like whiskey. It was so fascinating to hear about Jasper (Jack) Newton Daniel and how good old Tennessee whiskey came about and it was really cool to see how whiskey is made. The distillery has been operating for 150 years!

Downtown Broadway
We only went downtown one night while in Nashville, but I HIGHLY recommend. It is so much fun downtown. There is literally live music in every bar, and on every level of every bar. It’s insane and everyone who plays is SO talented and they really know how to put on a good show.
We spent the majority of our time at Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk. The band was way too fun and it was definitely the nicest bar on the strip, next to Jason Aldean’s which is also very nice. The band playing at Kid Rock’s while we were there was Dean James and the Treatment. It looks like they play there often. They made our entire downtown experience so much fun.
Predators Hockey Game
I failed to take pictures, but we also went to the Nashville Predators vs. St. Louis Blues hockey game. Although neither are my team, this was probably the best hockey game I’ve ever been to. The crowd was so much fun and they keep you entertained from beginning to end. A band also plays between periods which I’ve never seen before, but I guess in Nashville it makes sense.

Visit State Parks
We went to Dunbar Cave State Park in Clarksville, TN to pass some time on our last day there. The history there is pretty interesting although I think it would have been better if we could have gone on a tour in the cave, but they were closed.

Visit the Gaylord Opryland Resort
We didn’t stay here but we definitely went for a visit. The place is huge and very nice. It was already beautifully decorated for the holidays!

Jason Aldean’s
We ate at Jason Aldean’s Kitchen & Rooftop Bar the night we went downtown. The food was good, although I really wished we would have eaten at Kid Rock’s because we heard great things about the food there!

Jonathan’s
We had lunch at Jonathan’s in Murfreesboro one day and Tommy and I both highly recommend it! I had a chicken caesar salad, Tommy had a club sandwich (which he said was the best ever), and we also ordered buffalo chicken dip which was fantastic!

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
This restaurant was incredible. I ordered the steak and ribs combo with salad and carrots. Tommy had the homemade chicken pot pie which I’m not usually a fan of but this was so delightful. Highly recommend having dinner here.

Mission BBQ
I was so excited to have good BBQ in Tennessee, so we searched online to find a place that had great reviews and kept coming across Mission BBQ. We gave it a try but I was actually pretty disappointed. Oh well, you can’t always win!

Fuse Sports Bar
While we were visiting the Gaylord Opryland Resort we had lunch at Fuse Sports Bar. The food was delicious. Tommy had a ham and cheese sandwich and I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato dipping sauce and onion rings. Highly recommend!

Longhorn Steakhouse
I finally got to try Longhorn! We don’t have them here in Minnesota so I was excited. It was really good, but I definitely like Texas Roadhouse better.

Krispy Kreme
All of the Krispy Kreme shops in Minnesota closed years back, so I was so excited to see some good doughnuts in Tennessee!

St. Louis Gateway Arch
We ended up making the decision to drive home instead of taking our flight due to the weather that was expected in MN (didn’t want to risk being stuck in an airport for hours due to delayed flights). We stopped to see the Gateway Arch and we took the trip to the top. Yikes. I am afraid of heights but did it anyways and it was definitely worth it! The view from the top of the arch was very cool although scary. Luckily, it’s not glass floors that you’re standing on or anything crazy! The worst part is getting up and back down from the top. Tiny little 5 person pods take you back and forth via cables which was awful- it’s such a tiny space- you can’t even sit upright. It’s a 4 minute haul up and 3 minutes back down. Regardless, it was pretty cool learning about the Gateway Arch and experiencing this!
Colorado Travel Guide
It was awesome experiencing Nashville. Next time I think I’d like to stay downtown and also get down to Graceland in Memphis.
